Serving Nassau & Suffolk County from Huntington
General Home Repair Services on Long Island
General home repair covers the accumulated small and mid-size fixes every house needs: patching walls, adjusting doors that stick, re-caulking tubs, replacing rotted trim, tightening railings, and dozens of similar tasks. Blue Whale Handyman handles them in grouped visits across Nassau and Suffolk County, so one appointment clears a list that might otherwise sit for a year.
Problems this solves
- A repair list too small for a contractor but too long for a weekend
- Doors and drawers that stick, rub, or will not latch
- Cracked caulk and grout letting water behind tubs and sinks
- Loose railings, wobbly fixtures, and failing hardware
- Small water damage that grows if ignored
What’s included
- Drywall patching and touch-up painting
- Door and cabinet adjustment, hinges, and hardware
- Caulking around tubs, showers, sinks, and windows
- Trim, molding, and baseboard repair
- Weatherstripping and draft sealing
- Shelving, curtain rods, and wall-mounted hardware
- Minor plumbing fixes such as a leaky faucet
- Minor electrical fixes such as a switch or outlet cover
Signs you may need this
- Your to-do list has more than three items on it
- You have called contractors who never showed for "small stuff"
- A previous quick fix is failing again
- You are prepping the house for sale, guests, or a new season
How we approach the work
We walk the list with you first, confirm what is in scope, and sequence the messy work (cutting, sanding) before the clean work (painting, caulking). Floors and furniture get covered, and we haul away debris.
What affects scope and price
We do not publish flat prices because these factors genuinely change the work. The estimate itemizes them for your project.
- Number of tasks grouped into the visit (grouping lowers cost per task)
- Access and height, such as two-story foyers or steep stairs
- Hidden damage found once a repair is opened up
- Materials you supply versus materials we source

Home Repairs questions
Is there a minimum job size?
No fixed minimum, but grouping several tasks into one visit is the most cost-effective way to use us. Most customers keep a running list and book when it hits four or five items.
Can you fix plumbing and electrical issues?
Minor items only: a dripping faucet, a running toilet, a switch or outlet swap. Anything involving new circuits, gas, or supply lines gets referred to a licensed plumber or electrician, and we will tell you that up front.
Do you bring materials or should I buy them?
Either works. We source standard materials ourselves; if you have already bought a specific faucet or fan, we will install what you have.
