Seasonal Home Maintenance on Long Island

Long Island homes live through four real seasons: humid summers, leaf-heavy falls, freeze-thaw winters, and wet springs. Seasonal maintenance is the scheduled work that keeps those cycles from becoming repairs: gutters cleaned before winter, hose bibs winterized, caulk and weatherstripping checked, filters changed, and decks and walkways inspected each spring.

Problems this solves

  • Gutter overflows rotting fascia and flooding beds
  • Frozen hose bibs and burst pipe scares
  • Drafts that show up on the heating bill
  • Small exterior damage discovered too late each spring
  • A maintenance list you remember only when something fails

What’s included

  • Gutter and downspout cleaning and minor repair
  • Winterizing: hose bibs, weatherstripping, and draft sealing
  • HVAC filter replacement and dryer vent cleaning
  • Caulk inspection and renewal, inside and out
  • Spring walkthrough: deck, fence, walkway, and siding check
  • Smoke and CO detector battery service

Signs you may need this

  • Plants growing in the gutters
  • Ice dams formed on the roof edge last winter
  • You cannot remember the last filter change
  • Each spring reveals a surprise repair

What affects scope and price

We do not publish flat prices because these factors genuinely change the work. The estimate itemizes them for your project.

  • Home size and gutter footage
  • Tree cover (oak-heavy North Shore lots need extra fall visits)
  • One-time visit versus recurring spring/fall schedule
  • Roof pitch and access

Seasonal Maintenance questions

When should gutters be cleaned on Long Island?

Twice a year at minimum: late fall after the oaks finally drop (often into December here), and late spring after seed pods and pollen. Heavily wooded lots benefit from a third pass.

What does winterizing actually include?

Shutting off and draining exterior hose bibs, checking weatherstripping and door sweeps, sealing drafts, confirming heating filters are fresh, and walking the exterior for issues that get worse under snow and ice.

Do you offer a recurring schedule?

Yes. Spring and fall visits with a standing checklist are the most popular arrangement. You get a report of what was done and anything we spotted that needs a decision.
