Project Planning
What Projects Can Be Combined Into One Handyman Visit?
By the Blue Whale Handyman crew ·
Every service visit has a fixed cost: the drive, the setup, the cleanup. One task carries all of it; ten tasks split it ten ways. That is the entire logic of bundling, and it is why our happiest customers are list-keepers who book a visit when the note on their phone reaches critical mass.
A real example
One recent customer’s list, from her review: "various carpentry jobs to masonry to window washing." That is three trades in one booking, sequenced so each got done properly. Another customer bundled four separate projects into one engagement. Neither of those bookings would have made sense as four separate service calls.
Bundles that work especially well
| Anchor task | Natural add-ons | Why it pairs |
|---|---|---|
| Interior painting | Drywall patches, caulk, trim repair | All prep for paint anyway |
| Regrouting a bathroom | Fixture swaps, fan cleaning, caulk elsewhere | Grout cures while other work proceeds |
| Deck board replacement | Fence check, pressure washing, gate repair | Same tools, same yard |
| TV mounting | Shelving, furniture anchoring, fixture swaps | Same walls, same hardware kit |
| Gutter cleaning | Winterizing, caulk check, weatherstripping | One seasonal exterior pass |
| Concrete step patch | Walkway crack sealing, railing tightening | Concrete cures while we work nearby |
How to build your list
- Keep one running note; add every annoyance the moment you notice it
- Include photos of each item when you send it (a photo answers half our scoping questions)
- Flag anything involving water as priority; leaks never bundle politely with time
- Do not pre-filter the list. Send everything and let the estimate sort repair from replace from refer-out
- Book when you hit 4 or 5 items, before the list becomes a renovation
What does not bundle
Work requiring permits or licensed trades gets scheduled on its own track, and emergencies should never wait for a list. Everything else, from a squeaky hinge to a bathroom refresh, combines. Send the whole list and we will tell you what one visit can clear.
