Why does my ceiling fan wobble?
Usually blade imbalance or a loose mount, both fixable. A fan hung from a standard fixture box (not fan-rated) also wobbles and is a safety issue; the box must be replaced with a fan-rated one anchored to framing.
Do I need an electrician to replace a light fixture?
For a like-for-like replacement on an existing box and circuit, a handyman can do it in New York. Adding a fixture where none exists, or any new wiring, is licensed-electrician work.
Can you install a fan where a light is now?
Yes, if the box is upgraded to fan-rated and the switch situation works (a fan with a light kit on a single switch is fine; separate controls may need a remote kit, which we install).
