Completed concrete walkway repair by Blue Whale Handyman in Huntington NY

A Huntington crew that treats your house like it matters

Blue Whale Handyman is Ivan and his crew: 20+ years of repair and renovation experience, based in Huntington and working across Long Island. The business is built on the unglamorous things reviews keep mentioning: showing up when promised, keeping the work area clean, checking the work with you before leaving, and pricing fairly.

We are licensed and insured, and we are honest about scope: minor plumbing and electrical fixes are in; new circuits and gas lines go to licensed trades, and we will tell you which is which at the estimate.

One call for your home repair list

The best way to use us: keep a running list on your phone, then book one visit when it hits four or five items. A door that sticks, a wall patch, a grout line, a TV mount, and a wobbly railing make one well-used visit, and cost far less than five separate service calls.

  • One crew across many trades, one appointment
  • Messy work sequenced before clean work
  • Itemized scope, so you choose what is in

Why Long Island homeowners choose Blue Whale

They show up

"When they say they are coming, they come!!" is a direct quote from a Huntington review. Reliability is the whole product.

Detail obsessed

Customers hire us back three and four times because the finish work holds up to a close look, and we check it with you before we leave.

Honest scope

Repair beats replacement where repair is right, and licensed-trade work gets named as such. No invented urgency, no upsells.

Clean and respectful

"Neat," "tidy," and "respectful of our home" recur across our Google reviews. Floors covered, debris hauled, house left better than found.

Where we work

Our home base in Huntington sits near the Nassau–Suffolk line, so our service area runs both directions: west through eastern Nassau County (Woodbury, Syosset, Plainview, Farmingdale) and east through western and central Suffolk (Commack, Smithtown, Hauppauge, Deer Park). Along the water, we cover the North Shore from Cold Spring Harbor to Northport and beyond.

Based in Huntington, we take on projects within roughly 50 driving miles, which covers most of Nassau County and western and central Suffolk County. For towns on the outer edge of that radius, we group visits so a small repair still makes sense for both sides.

Ivan and his crew are great. The work is impeccable. They are neat and respectful. The best part is how responsive they are, and this sounds crazy but when they say they are coming, they come!!

We have hired Ivan and his team three times for multiple projects and each came out perfect! Exactly what we asked for. They pay attention to every detail and always ask their customer to make sure things are to their liking. Super personable and responsive to additional work. Thank you Ivan, Julian, and the rest of their team for making our apartment a home.

Common questions

What areas does Blue Whale Handyman serve?

We are based in Huntington, NY and serve homes within roughly 50 driving miles: most of Nassau County and western and central Suffolk County, including the North Shore from Port Washington to Port Jefferson. If you are unsure whether we cover your town, call 631-455-7879 and we will tell you straight.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Blue Whale Handyman is licensed and insured.

How do estimates work?

Estimates are free. Send your list through the estimate form or call, and for most projects we visit, walk the work with you, and follow up with a written scope. Small, well-described jobs can sometimes be quoted from photos.

What does a handyman do versus a contractor?

A handyman handles repairs and small-to-mid projects across many trades: drywall, doors, carpentry, painting, tile, fixtures. A general contractor manages large builds involving permits, structural changes, and multiple subcontractors. Most home to-do lists are handyman work; we tell you when a project genuinely needs a GC or a licensed trade.

Do you handle plumbing and electrical work?

Minor repairs only: a leaky faucet, a running toilet, a switch, outlet, or like-for-like fixture swap. New circuits, gas work, supply-line changes, and panel work require licensed trade professionals in New York. We identify that line clearly in every estimate and can coordinate licensed pros when a project crosses it.
