Windows questions
Is fog between the panes fixable?
The seal has failed and the insulating gas is gone. The glass unit (IGU) can often be replaced without replacing the whole window, which costs a fraction of a new unit.
Do I need to replace all my windows at once?
No. That is a sales framing. Replacing the two or three worst windows and repairing the rest is a legitimate strategy, especially in older homes where original windows suit the house.
Can rotted sills be repaired without replacing the window?
Usually. We cut out the rot and rebuild with new wood or structural epoxy, then prime and paint. The window itself is often fine; sills just take the worst of the weather.
