Hardwood Floors questions
Can one damaged board really be replaced?
Yes. We cut the damaged board out mid-floor, remove it without disturbing neighbors, and weave in a new board of the same species and width, then blend the finish. Done well, you will lose track of which board it was.
Why do floors gap in winter here?
Heating season dries indoor air and wood shrinks across its width. Normal seasonal gaps close in summer. Gaps that stay open year-round, or boards that cup, point to a humidity problem worth checking.
Spot refinish or the whole floor?
Spot refinishing works when the surrounding finish is in decent shape and we can blend at a doorway or board line. Once finish is failing broadly, a full refinish by a flooring specialist is the better spend, and we will tell you.
